Celebrate the Year Of The Dragon with us

Let’s ring in the lunar new year of strength, power and good fortune! We’re excited to bring LNY festivities back to South Granville and especially proud to join LNY Splash - a partnership with the Asian-Canadian Special Events Association!

Following the free-flying spirit of the majestic beasts, LNY Splash presents public art installations in iconic Vancouver locations. The new year belongs to all of us, so let’s make a splash together!

February 9-29 | Peace & Prosperity for Life, Lantern Installation #LNYSplash
Inspired by the moon, this series incorporates the twenty-four solar terms of the traditional Chinese calendar to create beautiful lanterns. The designs at South Granville Plaza East (Granville Street x West 14th Ave) follow the four major solar terms: Beginning of Spring, Beginning of Summer, Beginning of Autumn, and Beginning of Winter and were created by Asian-Canadian visual designer Kuan-chih Su.

February 10, from 11:00 am | Lion Dance Blessings
The lion dance is a traditional Chinese dance performed during the Spring Festival  (Chinese New Year) to drive away all negative energy and bring prosperity, wisdom, positivity, and liveliness! The dance is performed by two dancers inside an ornate lion costume accompanied by beating drums and clashing cymbals.

The Vancouver Kung-Fu group, Bak Mei, established in 1972, will bless our neighbourhood on February 10th, 11:00 am, starting at South Granville Plaza East (Granville Street x West 14th Avenue). Come join us as the Lions go around the neighbourhood to bless local businesses!
