Eileen Fisher opens first Canadian shop in Vancouver

Eileen Fisher is the latest American retailer to join the retail wagon train north. The American women’s wear line that specializes in high quality, simple and timeless clothing will open a shop on South Granville at the end of August 2011. This is Eileen Fisher’s first shop in Canada.

Vancouver’s relaxed lifestyle drew the retailer to the city, says its director of retail global development.

“We were struck by the focus on quality of life in Vancouver and see a synergy between the ease, functionality and simple elegance of our clothes and the relaxed, cosmopolitan Vancouver lifestyle,” said Karen Grey. “We also admire the leadership Vancouver has shown with respect to environmental stewardship and see another important connection in this shared value. Free Cooking Classes With Williams-Sonoma, Aug 2011

Each month, Williams-Sonoma stores offer instruction in basic cooking techniques and specific cook’s tools. Guests are able to watch demonstrations, ask questions and taste samples.

They have two classes on each of the designated dates, at 11am and 2pm.

Each hour-long class is dedicated to a specific topic led by a Williams-Sonoma culinary expert. Classes are complimentary but require pre-registration in advance by telephone to 778-330-2581 for each date.
