Ian Tan Gallery presents Betsy Stewart & Paul Ecke, June 9-28

Ian Tan Gallery on South Granville presents Designs of the Cosmos, an exhibition of works by guest artists Betsy Stewart & Paul Ecke from June 9th to 28th, 2012.

Using biomorphic images, Betsy Stewart’s work examines the microscopic, mutually dependent life systems found in pond water; giving these images a presence speaks to our fragile position in the cosmos. These images explore the regenerative symmetry inherent to the morphing of the natural world; the viewer is encouraged to consider the unseen minutiae that saturate our micro/macro universe.

Regardless of the subject, Paul Ecke’s work continues to evoke deep soulful responses from viewers who often find themselves mesmerized in front of Ecke’s canvases. People are drawn by the expressive brushstrokes, colors and textures that have become his signature. Ecke’s compositions are based on abstractions. The works are rich in inspired concepts that follow a stream of thought.
