Bau-Xi Gallery on South Granville presents Red, an exhibition of works by Artist Jamie Evrard from August 28 to September 22, 2012.

Evrard’s rich still lifes use oil paint to visualize the lively yet delicate nature of her floral bouquets. In her latest series, Red, Evrard explores the ephemeral nature of her floral subjects. Referring to these flowers as phantoms, she is fascinated with the persistence of what these florals represent. The memory of their scent, shape and line, or what the artist calls “their calligraphy”, remains long after the flowers are physically gone. This phantom and fleeting calligraphy is what Evrard endeavors to capture in her paintings.
