An uplifting story of growing up and growing old
“Altogether wonderful drama… illuminates how companionship can make life meaningful” —The New York Times
Nicola Cavendish stars in this touching, vividly rendered story about a sprightly 91-year-old New Yorker and her 21-year-old grandson. Leo, who has just cycled across the country, shows up unannounced on Vera’s doorstep with a bike, no money, and nowhere to go. In time, these unlikely roommates stop squabbling and, with humour and compassion, help each other navigate their changing worlds.

Chris Langstroth has been a full time artist for almost thirty years and lately he’s been concentrating, increasingly, on ways of representing the human figure (in whole or part). He enjoys the physicality of thick paint and uses knives to smear on one wet layer over another or to excavate through existing layers as he creates each painting. Although Chris strives for a certain visual plausibility in his work, representational accuracy is not his prime objective.
“The accidents Langstroth curates could be read as vestiges of lives: those found jostling about in contemporary cities or, more touchingly, in the haze of memory, where abstraction and figuration have always found perfect marriage.” —David Balzer, Art Critic
