South Granville Hospitality UmbrellasSouth Granville Umbrellas Are Back!

Who
South Granville Merchants, Business Owners, Managers, Employees.

What
With the help of your South Granville Business Improvement Association, the South Granville shopping district is once again bringing hospitality back to customer service! As we approach the rainy season, your BIA will re-launch this promotional campaign to help keep your customers warm and dry. Each business in the South Granville business district will have the opportunity to provide their customers with umbrellas to use while they shop and conduct their business on South Granville. This campaign helps to promote and put more of a spotlight on the high level of customer service associated with South Granville.

Where
This campaign will encompass the eleven blocks of the South Granville Business District.

When
Launch Date - January 8th, 2010

How
For those South Granville businesses who wish to participate, the first supply of umbrellas will be delivered to you (number depending on the size of the business) starting Thursday January 7th.

Customers and clients will be encouraged to use the umbrellas while they shop South Granville. For example, as a customer leaves your business they will see your umbrella stand holding the new South Granville umbrellas. When it is raining, your customers will be encouraged to use a South Granville umbrella between businesses. When they enter the next business, they will simply deposit the umbrella in that business’ umbrella stand. The umbrellas will naturally circulate throughout the South Granville business community.

If you want to actively participate in this campaign, please contact:

British Columbia is a world-class tourist destination and with that Vancouver has consistently ranked among the top ten cities in the world to visit. In 2006 more than 8.6 million people visited Greater Vancouver, spending more than 4.6 billion dollars. Vancouver continues to receive international exposure as host city of the 2010 Olympic Games and this provides huge potential for further development of tourism in Vancouver.

As your BIA we are continually looking for ways to market and promote South Granville to the Tourism market. Each year, thousands of tourists shop, dine and spend time in Vancouver and we want to be sure they know about and are made aware of the great businesses that make up South Granville. Many of these visitors are guided to the places they frequent by Hotel Concierge Staff and Guest Services personnel.

We want to be sure that South Granville is top-of-mind for this important group of people who influence tourists to visit certain destinations. Concierge Tours directly target this group and in turn the tourism industry in Vancouver. Since the Spring of 2008, the restaurants and shops of South Granville have been and will continue to host Vancouver's key concierge staff in "South Granville Concierge Tours" of the area.

These tours will be marketed to local Hotel Concierge Staff and Guest Services personnel, inviting them to be part of these events which will take them into businesses registered for the tours for a meet-and-greet, to find out more about each business, to find out more about the products and services these businesses offer and sample products and services.

Each tour usually lasts for approximately 2 to 3 hours and ends with a networking reception at a local restaurant, lounge or in a business on the tour.

Businesses who wish to participate and be included in upcoming tours will need to register their participation in advance and pay a small registration fee. This registration fee will collectively off-set the costs of organizing the tour, hosting the tour and bringing our tour guests to South Granville.

If you are interested in participating in future tours, check back for more information to be posted here as future tours are developed or contact Sharon at the BIA office to let her know you are interested in participating.
