DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY

31ST JULY 2011

South Granville wasn’t short of fun. You could spend an evening with E. Earl Ellis at his Peter Pan Ballroom in the 1600 block of W. Broadway. The Spanish style building was a popular night spot with generations of Vancouverites. Harmony Hall across the street was an early home for the meetings of Vancouver Historical Society and performances of the Orpheus Singers in the 1930s. Farther east on Broadway, The Arlington, built in 1929, while Spanish on the outside, was known for it’s Art Deco interior and sprung dance floor.
