HIGHLIGHTS FROM 5TH ANNUAL SOUTH GRANVILLE ARTWALK
23RD JUNE 2016
The 5th Annual South Granville ArtWalk took place on Saturday, June 18th, 2016 from 10am to 6pm. Each year the annual gathering gets better and better and despite the rain, the event was a great success. Alot of preparation goes into organizing and creating this special day for the neighbourhood and we love the results each year.
ArtWalk is your chance to meet some of the fabulous artists that the South Granville galleries represent.
Maryann Pousette and Artist Danny Ferland at Pousette Gallery.
Warren Chiu at Ian Tan Gallery.
Elena Kurbatoff and Marleen Vermeulen at the Kurbatoff Gallery reception.
Art Advisor Christopher Fadden and Gallery Owner Katsumi Kimoto at Kimoto Gallery during their ArtWalk reception.
The art of course takes center stage at the ArtWalk event but the fabulous people at each gallery and merchant business help bring it all to life.
Heffel Fine Art Auction House.
Art Advisors at Ian Tan Gallery
Art Advisor Charles Bateman at Marion Scott Gallery.
Proprietor Salman Ansari of Verandah Antiques.
Some galleries show work at the boutiques in the neighbourhood during the ArtWalk day, and beauty advisor (and opera singer) Hayley Crittenden loved showcasing the work of Bau-Xi Gallery artist Steven Nederveen at L’Occitane on South Granville.
It was incredible to see artist Danny Ferland create this portrait live in about an hour at Pousette Gallery during the ArtWalk event!
Unique exhibitions showcased local and international artists and their art.
Many of the South Granville businesses hosted pop-up shops during ArtWalk. This popular trend offers the chance for local artisans and creators to share their creative work in a retail setting with the popular ArtWalk event as a backdrop.
Konzuk was on hand at Ian Tan Gallery to introduce their new jewellery line.
Soffee Cafe, Archimallows, Andrea Young, and Love Soirette were on hand at gif Vancouver (Granville Island Florists).
Shoes and jewels, what could be better! Nick at the Shoes2go boutique hosted a pop-up with Keltie Leanne Designs.
During ArtWalk, Country Furniture hosted local photographer Martin Szabo. Together they were offering professional portraits for only $25. This regularly costs $285! What a cool idea and great opportunity.
We really enjoyed meeting artist Michelle Sirois-Silver. Michelle’s textile creations are beautiful works of art. Michelle was on hand at Urbanity on Saturday showcasing her work with a live demo.
Refreshments and treats during receptions, artist talks and at pop-ups are a nice bonus for ArtWalk attendees. The galleries and other local shops like to help everyone keep their energy up for the chance to get to every special activity during the day.

Wine Tasting by Clos du Soleil Winery at Ian Tan Gallery.
So many stunning works of art to see at ArtWalk.

A little rain didn’t keep Vancouverites away.
Artist Talks and live demonstrations are an exciting and intriguing part of the ArtWalk event.
Kimoto Gallery showcased a live painting demonstration by Artist Jim Park.
An ArtWalk splash of colour on a West Coast rainy day!
Some galleries partnered with other local businesses to offer tastings and to offer treats for the ArtWalk attendees.
Bump n’ Grind Cafe at Bau-Xi Gallery.
Did we mention there was the opportunity to win fabulous prizes from neighbourhood businesses?!
Many galleries and merchants offered prize draws.
Many of the boutiques created special window displays to promote the South Granville event and to share their brand of art, such as these fabulous windows at Diane’s Lingerie.
Treats are available from local cafes and restaurants everyday, but they look especially delicious during ArtWalk. Especially these delicious tarts from Goodge Place.
One of the best things about ArtWalk is that there is a full day to explore and take in the art.
Everyone had alot of fun at the local galleries during the 5th Annual ArtWalk, including a full day of activities and partying at Bau-Xi Gallery Vancouver.
And, if you missed out this year, then there is lots of time to start planning now for the 6th Annual ArtWalk in 2017!
