The SGBIA Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Ivy Haisell has accepted to serve as its new Executive Director, effective this month.

Ivy comes over the bridge from Downtown Vancouver BIA (DVBIA), managing the day to day activities of it’s 8,000 member organization and team. Her 12 year expertise has been cultivated in the development and management of the DVBIAs award winning Ambassador program, a Member Services, Business Readiness in times of business as usual and unusual, and Community/Stakeholder relations.

Ivy’s extensive experience with mitigating the impacts of the Canadaline construction will be a significant asset to the SGBIA as we begin the challenge of navigating the Translink Millennium Line extension project on Broadway.

Sharon Townsend, SGBIA Executive Director says ‘I could not have wished for a more qualified successor. I am delighted to hand over the keys.‘

The Board is excited to have Ivy’s extensive experience, fresh insights and enthusiasm to move the South Granville BIA into its new operational mandate.

‘Ivy’s personal interests are a perfect fit for our neighbourhood’, says Sharon Townsend, current Executive Director of the SGBIA. ‘She is an avid photographer and maker of all things delicious and beautiful. Ivy is also insightful, personable, and very, very smart.’

Sharon will be transitioning responsibilities to Ivy over the next few months.

“Sharon has been a tireless and effective advocate for South Granville since the BIA’s inception in 1999, and a valued member of the BIA community.” Says Peter Vaisbord, City of Vancouver, BIA Program Coordinator, “With her keen interest and aptitude for evidence-based planning, early adoption of on-line media platforms, and sophisticated design sense, she brought a rare combination of skills and passions to her work at the BIA.”

Details to come for a member reception to say farewell to our lovely Sharon.
