SGBIA Legal Workshop #2

Where Did Everyone Go? Managing Absenteeism in Today’s Workplace – A Guide for Businesses| Members Only

We are excited to host the next member-exclusive legal workshop designed to set business owners and managers up for success in overseeing workplace absenteeism. Join us for a 65-minute session led by local employment lawyer and South Granville resident, Clinton Tang. This practical workshop will walk you through the legal considerations of supervising and responding to absenteeism in your workplace.

You’ll learn about:

  • The difference between culpable and non-culpable absenteeism;

  • Obligations around accommodation, protected leaves, and medical notes;

  • Returning employees back to work following medical absences;

  • Attendance management and discipline strategies; and

  • Practical strategies to supervising absenteeism and optimizing workplace productivity while staying compliant with the law.

This session is specifically for SGBIA members and their managerial staff. This workshop is not intended for general employees. We are also excited to welcome business owners and managers from other Vancouver BIAs.

Stay after the workshop for an impromptu morning meet & greet with other business owners, hosted in our South Granville BIA office.
