Plaza Construction Update
As we’ve shared before, South Granville is getting a brand new permanent public plaza and while we can’t wait to enjoy all the benefits it’ll bring, we first need to go through a brief period of construction.
To prepare the space for the next phase, the existing plaza furniture and structures will be removed between July 3 and 4.
This includes the bistro tables and chairs, City Blocks seating, and the weather covering currently on site.
What’s Happening Next?
Construction of the new permanent plaza will begin in Summer 2025, with completion anticipated in early 2026.
Once finished, this space will offer:
Smooth, even concrete surfacing – ideal for flexible event programming
Fresh landscaping and new trees – bringing beauty and shade
Built-in public seating – to encourage longer visits and everyday enjoyment
Permanent public spaces like this are proven to strengthen neighbourhood vibrancy. They support local businesses by boosting foot traffic and visitor dwell time, while also creating a welcoming sense of community. This plaza is designed to be a lasting hub where neighbours can connect, relax, and celebrate what makes South Granville special.
We’ll continue to share updates as the project moves forward, but for now, plan ahead for July 3–4, and thank you for your patience during this exciting transition!
