SGBIA Public Space Maintenance

As part of our ongoing work to keep South Granville clean, safe and vibrant, the SGBIA continues to deliver seasonal public space maintenance throughout the year. This work supports both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of our commercial district - helping businesses, visitors, and the local community enjoy the neighbourhood at its best.

Tree Maintenance – Fall 2025

This week, we've placed the order for fall tree maintenance, including the removal of sap suckers - fast-growing vertical shoots that can weaken a tree and make it appear overgrown. This trimming work happens twice a year (spring and fall) to encourage healthy tree growth and maintain clear sight lines and sidewalk access along Granville Street.

Ongoing Public Space Maintenance

Tree work is just one piece of our larger maintenance program, which includes:

  • Quarterly plaza power washing to remove grime and stains

  • Weekly graffiti monitoring, reporting and removal (up to 10 ft in height)

  • Micro-cleaning several times a week

  • Annual summer flower baskets

  • Ongoing plaza planting and care to maintain greenery in our shared spaces

Our goal is to create a neighbourhood that feels well-loved and well-looked after - one that invites people to explore, linger, and return.
