On September 6, Vancouver’s art community raises a glass to celebrate the 90th birthday of Uno Langmann, the legendary founder of Uno Langmann Ltd. Fine Art.
A name synonymous with expertise, elegance, and passion for the arts, Langmann has shaped the cultural landscape of Canada for over 58 years. As an art dealer, collector, appraiser, patron, and long-time member of the Art Dealers Association of Canada (ADAC), he has devoted his life to preserving and elevating fine art.
Reflecting on his legacy, Langmann shared in a 2025 ADAC interview:
“If you sell good paintings, the paintings will outlast everything else, and you will be remembered. Your name will automatically be mentioned with those paintings.”
A Legacy in Art & Antiques
Founded in 1977, Uno Langmann Ltd. has become Canada’s foremost specialist in European and North American paintings from the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. The gallery, now a second-generation family business, is known for its elegant neoclassical surroundings, which also showcase antique furniture, silver, and objets d’art.
Over the years, Langmann and his team have assisted private clients in building exceptional collections, while also advising Canadian institutions on acquisitions, donations, and appraisals. Their work has helped ensure that important pieces of history remain preserved, appreciated, and shared with generations to come.
A Milestone Worth Toasting
Ninety years is an extraordinary milestone, and so is the impact of a man whose name has become synonymous with fine art in Canada. Happy birthday, Uno Langmann — here’s to a lifetime of vision, passion, and artistry, and to the legacy that will continue to inspire collectors and art lovers for decades to come.
